Books are kind of my jam. I love the feel of a physical book in my hands and being able to see how far I have read and how far I have to go! And as much as I would love to be able to buy allllll.the.books I could ever want, I have tried over the years to narrow it down to only the most special books due to space constraints and keeping up with our budget. So, what’s a girl to do? Here’s of my favorite places for getting books.
- The library. It’s always the first place I check, and we have so many of them at our disposal here in Central Texas. If you already have a library card for the library in your town, consider getting a TEXSHARE card to borrow books from other libraries in your area. I typically check out from Round Rock but can go to all the neighboring city libraries now. Also, if you didn’t know, the Houston Public Library allows you to get a library card online. I love utilizing them on the Libby App for e-books and audiobooks!
- Everand (formerly Scribd). Let’s face it, as much as I love a physical book, I just don’t always have the time to sit and read. Busy moms have to multitask sometimes, and audio books are my best friends these days and this is how I listen to them. Any homemaking task paired with some ear buds and I’m ready to go! This is a subscription-based service but if you read as much as I do — you’ll find it’s worth it especially when you can skip the holds line at the library. I’ve been able to get just about all the books I have wanted on this app with the exception of the most recent releases. Find it in your favorite app store.
- Half Price Books. Need I say more? Love being able to find a good deal and those clearance sections sometimes have some gems hiding in there!
- BookOutlet.com. Many times I am able to find books here at a discount, but it is similar to Half Price in that they only have overstock selections.
- Borrow from a friend. This is always a good option too! I love it when I swap good books with a friend to read.
Are any of these new to you? Do you have a favorite place that you get books from? Let me know!
